WORKSHOP AT A GLANCE

If you are interested in the craft of fine art photographic printmaking and creating better prints, I am now offering private full-day mentoring sessions at my print studio in either Melbourne, Australia or Mariestad, Sweden. This is an opportunity for you to work with an award-winning master printer and Moab master to create beautiful prints from your digital files. We can work on anything from digital capture to Lightroom processing and workflow to fine art print output.

Each workshop is custom-tailored to your individual needs and experience. Whether you have been making your prints for years, want to prepare your prints for the next Professional Photography Awards, or want to start printing for the very first time, this workshop will help you craft high-quality prints that you would be proud to enter into any competition or hang on any gallery wall.

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP

Fine Art, Printing mentoring sessions, are available by appointment and are scheduled around my local and international workshop and expedition commitments. Please contact me at admin@wildnaturephototravel.com for additional information or to register your interest.

The Melbourne Print studio has a high-end Mac Pro with 128 gigabytes of RAM, SSD Drives, external RAID Hard Drives and plenty of internal and external high-speed storage for even the largest medium-format digital files. I use a BenQ SW272U Wide Gamut 4K Adobe RGB monitor for colour-critical work, and the studio workflow is fully colour-managed from input to output. The studio has a Canon Pro1000 17" wide Large Format Pigment Ink Printer and the latest X-Rite Profiling Hardware.

The studio also has a high-end Graphic-Lite 5000 Kelvin Viewing station for critical print evaluation, several large artist easels for evaluating prints and a rotor trim for cutting mats.

  • Calibration and Profiling: How to properly calibrate and profile your computer monitor so that you get an accurate screen to print match for colour and luminosity
  • RAW Processing: Optimum RAW Image processing in Adobe Lightroom Classic.
  • Print Polishing: Final polishing of the finished image in Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud
  • Printing in a Colour-Managed Environment: How to print in a colour-managed environment - includes printing from either Adobe Lightroom or Adobe Photoshop.
  • Creating Custom Profiles: The importance of custom Printer Profiles and how to create custom Printer Profiles for optimum print quality
  • Print Density: The importance of Print Density and how to optimise your print's black and white levels for every print you make.
  • Soft Proofing: How to Soft Proof, optimise and tweak your photograph before you commit ink to paper
  • Print Evaluation: How to evaluate your finished Fine Art Print and Print Handling and Print Finishing

What You Need to Bring

  • RAW Files: Some of your own unprocessed and processed RAW files.
  • Prints: Any example prints you have previously made (especially if you are not happy with them)
  • Passion: A Passion for Photography and the Craft of Print Making

WORKSHOP ITINERARY

We will work side-by-side on the workflow and all aspects of Fine Art Printing from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., but the exact aspects we cover depend on your learning needs. Typically, we spend most of our time optimally preparing files for print, making prints and evaluating prints, but we will custom-tailor the day to suit your needs.

INCLUSIONS AND EXCLUSIONS

Inclusions

  • Tuition: Expert one-on-one photographic tuition will be provided for the duration of the workshop.
  • Prints: As many Fine Art Prints as we have time to make during the Workshop
  • Studio Facilities: Full use of the studio facilities, including all Printer Paper and Pigment Printer Ink.
  • Food and Beverages: Includes Lunch at a local café or restaurant.
  • Support: Ongoing follow-up E-mail Support as required

Exclusions

  • Transportation: Any travel required to arrive at the workshop starting location in either Melbourne, Australia or Mariestad, Sweden.
  • Duties and Taxes: Any taxes, levies, insurances, Immigration, duty, and visa fees where applicable.
  • Personal Items: Any personal items, including alcoholic beverages, souvenirs and travel insurance.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Full payment must be made when booking to secure your place for this private workshop. Payment Methods Accepted: Credit card Visa/Master (+3%) or Direct Deposit / Wire Transfer.

Refunds and Cancellations: Our standard workshop policy requires an initial non-refundable deposit for the reservation of your space and your payment balance in full 120 days before the commencement of the workshop date unless otherwise noted. If we do not receive the balance on or before the due date, and we are unable to get in contact with you via the contact details you have provided, we will try to fill your spot off the waiting list. At our discretion, we may apply your deposit to be used for another workshop within one year. Please note that price increases may apply in this instance.

If the workshop is cancelled for any reason, your deposit will be refunded in full. Wild Nature Photo Travel Pty Ltd., trading as Joshua Holko Photography and Joshua Holko, is not responsible for any financial commitments that registered attendees have with third parties such as airlines or other travel services.
